Customization
Racquet customization is the altering of existing racquet specifications, such as static weight, swing weight, twist weight and balance of weight, to a set of custom specifications based on the request of the player. URacquet Shop owner Mark Kuczynski has years of experience matching and customizing racquets for the region's most skilled and advanced tennis players. Due to the potential complexities involved in each racquet customization project, an exact dollar amount for this service is not available until the current racquet specifications are measured. We encourage you to contact the shop with a description of your customizing project and a rough estimate will be projected. URacquet Shop uses the most modern, digital machinery available when customizing your racquets.
Grip Replacement
Maintaining a fresh racquet grip is one of the most important, and often neglected, ways to prevent injury to your arm. With a slippery and deteriorated grip, your hand is working harder to hang on to the racquet, potentially causing a build up of tension up the kinetic chain into your wrist and elbow. URacquet Shop offers professional racquet base grip installation, and will also install your overgrip while teaching you how to install an overgrip for yourself.
Replacement Base Grip Installation: $6 plus the cost of the grip.
Overgrip Installation: free plus the cost of the grip.
Bumper Guard and Grommets Replacement
Over time, your racquet bumper guard and grommets may deteriorate which in many cases can cause premature string breakage as well as irreparable damage to the structure of the graphite beam of your frame. URacquet Shop offers professional bumper guard and grommet replacement to ensure the longevity of your biggest tennis investment - your racquet.
Bumper Guard and Grommet Installation Labor Fee: $15
Bumper Guard and Grommet Materials: $15 for current generation racquet models. For prior generation racquet models, Materials costs can vary. Please contact the shop for an estimate on prior racquet model guard/grommet replacement.
Grip Size Build-Up and/or Alterations
Racquet handle width can be increased, or built up, to achieve a more comfortable grip size for the player. The most common way to achieve this is through professional installation of a heat-shrink sleeve below the base grip. Grip size build up can also take place via installation of specialty base grips meant to increase the width of the grip. Decreasing a handle grip size can also be achieved via installation of thinner base grips. Shaving of the plastic pallet of the handle below the base grip with the goal of decreasing grip size is possible but costly and should only be attempted if using a thinner base grip is not an acceptable option for the player. The final way to alter a the grip size of a racquet handle is to remove and replace the plastic pallet below the base grip. This is not possible for every racquet model. For more information regarding all of these grip alteration methods, please call the shop to discuss the best option for your case.
Grip Build Up with Heat Shrink Sleeve: $15 (includes sleeve and labor fee)*
Base Grip Replacements: see section above
Pallet Alteration, Removal and Replacement: call the shop for details
*Note that when increasing the grip size with a heat shrink sleeve, the current base grip may no longer fit the handle, therefore expect to purchase a new replacement base grip when using this option.
